Hygiene
For the healthy person, a professional dental cleaning should be undertaken routinely every 6 months. As well as, of course, regular brushing and flossing which are essential for good oral hygiene.
Our hygienist will administer a professional dental hygiene treatment, which includes a scaling and polish. Scaling is a common non-surgical treatment for removal of infected deposits (tartar or calculus) from the tooth surface, which, if not removed, lead to gum disease. You will be advised about the condition of your teeth and gums and the hygienist will recommend a sequence of care specific to your needs including advice on proper brushing and flossing. A hygiene treatment of 60 minutes is normally sufficient for a patient with healthy gums and good daily hygiene, however if any level of gum disease exists then more than 60 minutes may be required. |
